Powerseeker Accessory kit

EyEpiEcEs

The accessory kit comes wtih two eyepieces for medium to

higher power viewing. The 15 mm eyepiece will give a medium

power but wider a ﬁeld of view, while the 9 mm is higher power

but gives a narrow ﬁeld of view. Consult your telescope’s

owner’s manual for information on calculating magniﬁcation

and ﬁeld of view.

FiltErs

Eyepiece ﬁlters are an invaluable aid in lunar and planetary

observing. They reduce glare and light scattering, increase

contrast through selective ﬁltration, increase deﬁnition and

resolution, and lessen eye fatigue.

Celestron’s ﬁlters are made of high quality, solid plane parallel

glass with excellent homogeneity. The colored ﬁlters are

anti-reﬂection coated to prevent glaring and ghosting. All

eyepiece ﬁlters are threaded to ﬁt Celestron’s, and most other

manufacturer’s, 1¼” eyepieces.

To attach the ﬁlter onto the included eyepieces, simply thread

the male thread on the ﬁlter into the bottom of the eyepiece

barrel. Then insert the eyepiece (with ﬁlter attached) into star

diagonal or focuser of your telescope.

Blue PlAnetAry Filter — #80A light Blue 30% t

Jupiter – Enhance the boundaries between the reddish belts

and adjacent bright zones. Useful for viewing the Great Red

Spot. Mars – Very useful during the violet clearing. Helpful in

studying surface features and polar caps. Mercury – Improve

observation of dusky surface markings at twilight, when the

planet is near the horizon. Saturn – Enhance low-contrast

features between the belts and zones. Venus – Useful for

increased contrast of dark shadings in upper Venusian clouds.

Comets – Bring out the best deﬁnition in comet gas tails.

red PlAnetAry Filter — #25 14% t

Jupiter – Useful for studying bluer clouds. Mars – Ideal for

observation of the polar ice caps and features on the Martian

surface. Sharpens the boundaries of yellow dust clouds.

Mercury – Improves observation at twilight, when the planet

is near the horizon. During daylight, it reduces the brightness

of the blue sky to enhance surface features. Saturn – Useful for

studying bluer clouds. Venus – Use during daylight observing

to reduce brightness of blue sky. Occasionally deforms of the

terminator are visible.

Moon Filter

Celestron’s Moon Filter is an economical eyepiece ﬁlter for

reducing the brightness of the moon and improving contrast, so

greater detail can be observed on the lunar surface. The clear

aperture is 21 mm and the transmission is about 18%.

Micro FibEr cloth

The Celestron Microﬁber cloth will safely remove ﬁngerprints

and smears from optics without causing any damage or leaving

residue. Use the cloth to gently rub across the surface of the

optics. Don’t rub in circles. For larger optics such as binoculars

and telescope, start in the center of the lens and rub out

towards the edge.
